Dear Skippy,
Your site says Skippy® Natural does not contain artificial ingredients. Is palm oil considered natural then, versus vegetable oils used in your other products?
Also, if it can be produced using “traditional, minimal processing methods” why can’t your other peanut butters be made this way?

Thank you for writing us regarding Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter Spread.
The factors considered during the development of each product include taste, texture, nutritional value, ability to retain flavor and quality. Skippy uses only those ingredients needed to provide the desired flavor, appearance, consistency and nutritional value to its food products, and then to maintain those qualities during storage and use.
In order to produce good-tasting foods, Skippy also makes use of the latest research to select ingredients that provide these desired qualities. Extensive consumer taste testing is also conducted.
Skippy Natural is made with ingredients that are minimally and non-chemically processed. The FDA does not have a definition for natural products, like it does for organic foods, but the general ruling is that natural foods should be minimally and non-chemically processed.
Skippy Natural is made with Palm Oil, an all-natural, non-hydrogenated oil. The Palm Oil used in this product goes through a different process, called "fractionation" which means the fat functional fractions are separated out and then recombined to make the stabilizer. As you may be aware, hydrogenated, or partially hydrogenated oils, are produced through "hydrogenation", a chemical process by which hydrogen is added to unsaturated fatty acids. Thus, the palm oil is considered natural as well.
The sugar used in Skippy Natural is minimally processed and thus qualifies as a natural ingredient. Skippy decided to add a small level of sugar to Skippy Natural in order to have a broader taste appeal.
